There are two reasons for this post today. FIRST – I was in need of some self-care this weekend. And September isn’t only for SEX and SALES….it’s for taking care of me. Second – I have to show Target some love since I showed Old Navy some. It’s all about equality.
Back to SELF CARE.
It began on Saturday morning when I was feeling under the weather and just needed an hour or so of alone time. I wanted to paint my nails, take a nice shower, vacuum the house. You know, a girl can dream, right?
My husband volunteered to be a great dad and take the kids to the park for me to have some time at the house – ALONE.
So, I jammed out to The Greatest Showman soundtrack – singing at the top of my lungs and had a perfect hour and a half of vacuuming, finishing up laundry, changing sheets, taking a nice hot shower and lighting all the fall candles in the house. It was AMAZING.
Self-care doesn’t always need to be about going and doing anything – it’s about taking care of your needs and your sanity. As a work-from-home mom, I am in need of some quality alone time every week or so. My husband knows this about me and he’s happy to oblige.
On Sunday morning he offered to keep the kids so that I could go to Target for a Fall wardrobe try-on! BLESS HIM! (Sextember is really working, ya’ll! HAHAHA!)
For a woman there is rarely anything that comes close to uninterrupted time with your favorite store and a good coffee in your hand. It is synonymous with HEAVEN.
Thank you to the employees at Target – Garner’s Ferry in Columbia, SC. They gave me full cart access to the family dressing room and let me try on EVERYTHING without giving me any issues. Bless you, girls!!!
Here it is: Everything YOU need for work, weekend, and everything in between for fall. OH MY GOODNESS….Target is so ON POINT this season, ya’ll. I may never shop anywhere else again. (O.k…..at least for a day or so)
I have gone in order of brand – and there were so many great things to choose from! So get ready!!!
Universal Threads Plaid Peplum Cami Tank $17.99
This tank just SCREAMS fall. I loved it, but they only had it in a Medium in my store and I needed a Small. Runs true- to-size. Love that it’s a camisole because I feel like it may be 95 degrees for another 2 months here. In the second pic, I have paired it with the rust cardigan that I went home with! (See below!)
Universal Threads Floral Long Sleeved Wrap Blouse $24.99
This shirt was soooo good. I’m usually about layering, but this shirt was perfect on it’s own with a pair of gold hoops and the booties that I feel like you don’t need anything else. It fell so nicely. This was a Size Small and I felt like I could have sized down to an XS. The print was PERFECT. Also, work appropriate with a pencil skirt or trousers!
Universal Threads Crew Neck Sweatshirt $19.99
Ya’ll know I loathe sweatshirts (sorry – I do….I’m not in college anymore and I don’t like anything with sweat in the title), but this one is actually one I may end up wearing out in public. (I didn’t buy it, but I do have it in my online cart….see? I can be flexible). It is soft and is quite flattering! I can see a blanket scarf paired with this and dressed up or with joggers and way down! Size small in this so true to size, unless you want an oversized look.
Universal Threads Long Sleeve Tie Front Plaid Shirt $19.99
I’ve seen this print everywhere (Old Navy, Nordstrom, Madewell) and this one is a top contender! This is a size Small and runs true to size!
Universal Threads Mock Neck Turtleneck $10.00
I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something NEW for you…because, I love you. I really do. And I really ended up liking this! For $10, I can see this being a staple layering piece in my fall rotation! This is an XS, because I wanted it to be fitted. I would say size down!
Universal Threads Long Sleeve Soft Twill Shirt $19.99
Oh, I LOVED this shirt. So soft, perfect color and perfect for tossing over a cami (see below for details on that) or a waffle knit henley and going. In place of the utility jacket, the utility shirt is perfect for warm climates (like mine) and can be worn tied up, buttoned, or open for a unique look!
Universal Threads Short Sleeved Twist Front T-Shirt $14.99
Love the color of this, but it did fit a bit big. This was an XS and I felt like it was a bit boxy. Did layer nicely with the camo Utility Jacket…not so well with the oversized cardigan.
Universal Threads Denim Jacket $29.99
This is a good – well fitting denim jacket. It had a good weight to it and a good rinse. This is a size Small, fits true to size.
Universal Threads Utility Anorak Jacket (Camel and Camo) $39.99
This was a tough comparison for me….being I just purchased all the Old Navy Twill jackets. I loved the color of the khaki and the camo print was so good. I also loved the way these fit and the drawstring at the waist (which I feel like is a nice added feature) ….I’m torn about these versus the Old Navy version. Both are great deals regardless.
Universal Threads Faux Leather Moto Jacket $39.99
SOOO good! I think I preferred the suede version at Old Navy, but the color of this is too good. I don’t know which one I like better, but as long as you have ONE, you will have a FALL wardrobe staple.
Universal Threads Open Kimono Cardi $24.99
Every one needs one of these. Seriously. Go buy one or order it online. I regret not purchasing it in the store – but I am having FOMO and am afraid they will all sell out. Please – trust me. Get it. This is an XS as it is oversized.
Universal Threads Open Layering Cardigan $24.99
Ah- I didn’t love this. Maybe it was the color? It was an XS, maybe I should have sized up? I didn’t care for it as much as the other ones I tried. I have this same one from Spring in the pink color and love it.
Universal Threads High-Rise Skinny Crop Jeans $24.99
I picked these up randomly and I actually loved them! I just needed a pair of jeans to style against the tops and cardigans and I LOVED how they fit. Strongly recommend as a pair of inexpensive denim!
Universal Threads Wenda Cut Out Booties $34.99
See above photo….I loved these. I bought them. Enough said. They sold out last year and so I was thrilled to snag them in store. Comfy, exact duplicates for the Free People ones that are over $200, and soooo pretty!!!! Get yourself a pair NOW before they sell out again.
Universal Threads Tie Waist Wide Leg Crop Pants $29.99
If I was working in an office everyday, I would have bought these. I loved them. They are so comfy and trendy and they fit really well. These are an XS, so I recommend sizing down.
A New Day Cocoon Cardigan (Rust) $22.99
I bought this cardigan. I sized up to a Medium because I wanted it a bit more oversized. I LOVE this cardi. I have it in the mustard color but the RUST is a MUST have for fall. It goes with everything!
A New Day Sleeveless Knit Maxi Dress $16.08 – in store only
I almost wanted to cry when I saw this was out of stock online but only in store (on clearance). This was a size Small and I really needed a medium (or Spanx), but it could go with so much and was a classic cut for wearing with all sorts of fun things all year round. I love the burgandy for fall, but they have gray and black online, too. Check your store to snag one!
A New Day Lace Cami (Blush and Black) $14.99
They didn’t have either one of these lace edged camisoles in my size in store (needed a size Small), but they are so good and for under $15 I say STOCK UP! I also like the way they both have a liner right at the bra line so there’s no showing anything of the “girls”.
A New Day Sleeveless Striped V-Neck Tank $12.99
I regretted not getting this in store, so I have it in my cart online. I love this. It is thicker jersey material and not see through and falls nicely. Can be worn with a regular bra – WINNER! Size small, true to size.
A New Day Open Knit Cardigan $24.99
Another REGRET….this cardigan feels better than pajamas. Seriously—SO SOFT. And lays perfectly. BUY THEM ALL. Size small, runs true to size.
A New Day Animal Print Pleated Tulle Skirt $24.99
For a fun statement piece this fall, I loved this skirt. It is high-end looking and fun! The length is perfect for work, church, or going out!
A New Day Floral Print Sleeveless Pleated Slip Dress $27.99
I bought this. I think you should too. Seriously – so flattering. Can be worn with cardis, jackets, vests, booties, flats….ALL THE THINGS. The photos don’t do it justice because the print is perfection for FALL. I cannot tell you how much I loved this dress. I felt instantly PRETTY as soon as I put it on. And you will too.
A New Day Pleated Skirt (Multi-colored) $24.99
Suprised at how much I loved this one on. It’s bright and statement-looking – I thought I would shy away from it, but I loved it. This is a size medium and I needed a size small, so I added it to my online cart (It’s a good cart size at this point!) … I can see it going all year round pairing it with all sorts of things!
A New Day Faux Leather Moto Jacket (camel) $39.99
This ran SMALL. I liked the color of it and the cut, but this is a size small and I should have tried on the Medium because I couldn’t comfortably zip this one. I liked the “bomber” details.
A New Day Sleeveles Wrap Front Jumpsuit $27.99
Super cute jumpsuit for going out or throw on a blazer and wear it for a work meeting. I felt very “Audrey Hepburn” wearing it. I’ve tried the Vince Camuto one for a lot more and this was just as good. Size XS, runs a bit big.
A New Day Double Breasted Trench Coat $44.99
Water Resistant. Removable Hood. Classic Cut. Comes in both black and khaki. Perfect rain coat. Seriously – perfect. Size Small, runs true to size.
Who What Wear Printed Scarf $19.99
Such a cute scarf! If you are in need of a leopard print scarf, this one is worth snagging!
A New Day Leopard Print Top $22.99
Regretted not getting this one. I felt like it ran a bit boxy, but this was a Small and I could have sized down to get the fit I was needing. I love it in the photo so I added it to my cart. HAHA – Bryan’s going to kill me. I say for the price and the fact that there is one very similar on Nordstrom right now for triple that amount I say – get this one!
O.k. my loves…..That was all for my Target run today! I ended up being conservative in my purchases (the pleated dress, the cardi and the booties came home with me), but I do have an ongoing online cart happening!
What did you love most?
